Food Alley

This is an Asian food court and is often considered Auckland's best (and has been voted as such).  The location is a little walk from Queen Street and the premises have a grubby appearance but as food courts go you will get the best service and most authetic food in any Auckland food court.

Alleluya

Best Coffees I've had in Auckland and wicked location on K'road in the boutique/alternative St Kevin's arcade.  The tables get morning sun and look out over Myers Park.  The Breakfast meals are also pretty good.

Burger Fuel

This is New Zealand's own burger chain which they have just started taking to the rest of the world, and it ain't half bad.  While you will pay a little more than you would at an American chain you do get what you pay for.  Themed around cars/motors/engineering, with interesting burger names and staff who appear to all require multiple facial piercings it is a must try at least once.

Ponsonby Fresh Fish and Chips

The best fish and chips I've tasted in Auckland (they even put extra effort into the presentation if you can imagine).  While they are not the cheapest F&C shop out there, given that this type of food is cheap in nature you might as well have the best of it.  Service is good but order early as it is popular and will require a wait.  Alternatively bring proof of adress with you and join the Ponsonby Video Ezy across the road (the best collection of DVDs I've come across in NZ).

Bongane Korean Restaurant

Definitely one of the best and most authentic Korean Restaurants you will find in New Zealand as evidenced by the Korean celebrities who have visited it.  As with many Korean restaurants of this type it is cheap, very healthy, value for money (you get lots of side dishes) and Delicious.  The service here is also excellent.  Located on the corner of Mayoral and Queen Street.

Cafe Melba

If you find yourself in the Ellerslie area then do yourself a favour and checkout this cafe which won best cafe in 2010.  Its not the cheapest but they do have cheap options and the service is outstanding.  There are three other locations around Auckland but I cannot vouch for the others.
